About me
Then
I'm an artist, creative, former academic, and recovering people-pleaser. I’m also queer, neurodivergent, and nonbinary. At the age of 17, I left home for music school 2,500 miles away. By the time I was 30, I had just received my doctorate in computer music and multimedia art. I was writing, recording, and promoting my own music, and traveling for art gigs and music performances.I’ve lived a full life in the “struggling artist world,” and as much as I love creating and being around other creatives, the pace and capacity in that world just weren’t for me.I struggled with the pressures of both academic and music communities. I found myself overworking and overperforming, leading to repeated burnout. I was losing my inner creative voice – others’ voices and expectations for my creativity became louder than my own. It got to the point where I couldn’t even listen to music without having a panic attack.I had ignored the cues of burnout for too long; my body began to crash. I felt like I was drowning. I took leave from my teaching position and eventually made the decision to leave academia to radically rest and reset.Throughout this trajectory, I leapt at every opportunity to help friends by consulting on their projects. This came naturally to me, as it was the perfect overlap of major tenets of my life: community and creativity. The support I offered varied from helping a friend conceptualize their creative point of view, to working on a friend’s art install.
Now
As someone who has experienced creative burnout, I understand the pressure that builds from the fears and doubts stemming from insecurity or uncertainty. I know the struggle of trying to get back to the original love and passion of creating. In the last couple years, I’ve taken the side hustle of consulting and coaching on friends’ projects and turned it into a full-time gig.I absolutely love what I do.My coaching offers an affirming and compassionate perspective, tailored to you. I can see your situation and struggles clearly, and I can help you identify the clearest path forward in connecting with your inner creative self.Together, we can work to boost confidence, reframe negative thoughts, and help you move towards your personal creative goals.
